Painting the Bilge

To preserve all the Bilge sand blasting that was done a coat of POR-15 was needed on exposed parts of the Bilge prior to the oncoming Winter. October was a mess to try and get this done. Cold temperatures and abnormally rainy conditions limited the number of days painting could be accomplished outside to a handful.

POR-15 does not come in white. We had to use clear and a urethane tint. The job was done before November but the jury is still out on the quality. Touch-up will commence in the spring.

To minimize further damage to the floor. The 3/4″ Mahogany plywood sheets were removed. Hand sanded and painted with a Marine paint on both sides. The floor was reinstalled to facilitate winter storage.
